There’s more to the Netherlands than just Amsterdam! Visit the charming villages of Edam, Volendan, Marken, and Zaanse Schans in the Dutch countryside.
This tour begins at Central Station in Amsterdam where our bus will then take you into the Dutch countryside. Our first stop is Zaanse Schans, where you’ll be able to take pictures of those typical Dutch windmills still in use today. From there we head to the Waterland area, passing through the beautiful villages of Edam, Volendam, and Marken. In Edam, walk through historic sites like where the famous Cheese Market used to take place. Near Volendam we’ll visit a cheese producer, where the cheese master will explain how they produce Gouda and Edam cheese. We’ll be stopping at a clog factory too, where you will discover the secrets of this typical Dutch shoe. Finally, travel back in time to the 17th century as we walk by cozy fishermen houses in Marken, the fishing harbor, and the Protestant church.
